Social networking and email have made it easier than ever for friends and family separated by geographic distance to stay up-to-date with one another. Like many, author J.M. Sperandio used personal emails to keep in touch with her friends and family while she traveled the world. It was this communication that inspired her to pen the new book, Travel Letters from an American Living in the Middle East-Bahrain: and Other Travel Tales (published by Trafford Publishing).

Travel Letters from an American Living in the Middle East-Bahrain is an educational and entertaining travel book with an emphasis on the Middle East, Bahrain and other countries Sperandio has visited. Also included are full-color photos with reinforced text that provide further information.

An excerpt from the book:

… We approached the pearl shop next to Lisa’s fashions. The owner of the pearl shop, who was sitting at his desk, was in his late eighties and dressed in traditional Arab clothing. Hanging on the wall behind him were pictures of her father, grandfather, and his great-grandfather. These pictures were lined up in succession from old to young – each man had been a Bahraini pearl diver. “Hello, how are you?” We quickly learned this was the only English the shop-owner could speak. Our Bahraini friend conversed with the owner in Arabic as Kent and I looked on as though we were watching a ping-pong match, listening and observing their conversation.

“I hope my book appeals to readers who share a love of travel, living abroad, new experiences and adventures” explains Sperandio. “I learned through my travels, for the most part people are the same. It is their cultures and religions that are different.”
